Check out our new Private label Parkbridge Products

Parkbridge technicians, trained to meet Clean Marine Standards, do provide a full service professional launch procedure from A-Z.

Some boaters prefer to do their own annual maintenance and many have their own methods. The following are some tips, with Eco- products from our chandlery, for the DIY group.

Keep in mind in spring even though the weather may seem almost hot...the massive boats are still at a much lower temperature and all cleaning and polish products will react slower!

Clean the Bilge

Parkbridge Bilge Cleaner will help dissolve any oil in the bilge area and assist to clean down the engine. Add a few ounces of this Eco-rated concentrate as required and wipe down or soft  brush the areas. Adsorb the resultant and dispose responsibly as dictated by Clean Marine procedures. Add a few ounces every week to help keep the bilge odor free and help dissolve potentially dangerous gasoline.

Waxing & Polishing

If the boat is 1-3 years old we suggest the Natural Marine Polish. It has a very slight jewelers rouge action to help eliminate any anti fading or chalking trying to take place. This product is ideal for all fiberglass, decks, topsides, cockpits & chrome, with the maximum UV possible. It is highly rated by Key marine and cleaning professionals in the industry.

For boats over 4 years old and any with faded areas we suggest Natural Marine Fiberglass Color Restorer Wax. Trusted by the pros to return a boat to like new condition. Although it contains some wax, we suggest one overcoat of Marine Polish for ultimate UV protection.

Mid season is a good time for one more protective coat of Marine Polish. Some always polish again before the boat goes to bed to protect surfaces from 8 months of harsh winter conditions.

Holding tanks

Both your fresh water and black water (head) holding tanks can easily brought back to whistle clean condition.

"Shock Treat" your Head tank every spring

Airlines found that hard landings put the nasty brown organic material all over the inside of their holding tanks. Waves and rough water have the same effect. Obviously back in port the protective head product in your holding tank is only in the bottom. The walls and ceilings of the tanks can get a bit on the odorous side.

Easy Solution: Every spring pour one 900ml bottle of Parkbridge Shock Treat into the head and flush it down. Add your regular Parkbridge Head-O-Matic head chemical as usual, and allow this to slosh about and descale the walls of the waste tank until your first pump out.

Head Chemical

Parkbridge has chosen the leading, non formaldehyde, Eco-rated Head-O-Matic products as their key performance product.

Developed originally for airlines, rapid transit and military use it will eliminate odors and help keep marine & RV toilets odor free and in peak condition.

The Rule of Thumb: Don't play catch-up with your heads. Always have at least 1oz of head  product for every gallon of waste you presently have in your tank. On hot days double the dosage. Example : Plan to go out for a few days and add 5 gal of waste: add 5oz Head-O-Matic prior to going out.

Weekend Hint: at the end of the weekend as you close up the boat, flush a few ounces through the head to whistle clean the hoses. And remember, malodors are usually caused by organics on the ceiling of the tank...if so Shock Treat immediately and get some boat movement action happening.

Fresh Water Tank

In the case of fresh water tanks you always want to remove that terrible "tank taste". This is caused by the bacteria slime build-up inside the tank.

Head-O-Matic, developed a product "Fresh Tank ", initially for airlines, that allows you to whistle clean these drinking water tanks every spring. Simply dissolve this powder in a bucket and pour into your holding tank deck intake.

Fill the tank with water and let it sit for an hour, and then pump it out. A once through rinse is required. Simply add your regular head-O-Matic Tank Treat as required and you will have clean drinking water with no after taste for the season.
